We got a good amount of work done last week end on the Dobro. This is where things really get exciting, the basic form has taken shape and we get to ride the wave of creativity. On the bottom center picture you will notice a trash can lid, this is no mistake. The one thing that sets a dobro apart from a standard guitar is the resonator, this is what gives it that unique sound. We have been playing around with many different options from old galvanized wash tubs to trash can lids. You may also notice that the head is a little different than you might expect from a normal six string instrument, this is what we are all about.
Getting things started took some time, but things are coming together now. We got the final form nailed down and the sides rolled into shape. Just tonight I was able to get some of the bottom support welded to the sides. Hopefully by this weekend we should be starting to get the neck fabricated and joined to the body.
