We had a blast and met a lot of great people last weekend, here are some memories we wanted to share. Below you can see Billy Strings, some of the members of Greensky Bluegrass and the Deep Fried Pickle Project jug band all checking out our instruments.
Unfortunately I had to work and was unable to help so Dave did the installation solo. The installation was a success, although he did find himself locked in when he went to leave. He eventually was able to escape with the help of a neighbor.
Its only fitting that the Banjo has been donated to Wheatland in memory of Mike Bunting as he was there and fostered the original idea to create this sculpture for the festival grounds.
First and foremost please check out the write up over at SeMi bluegrass that John Bayerl did for us.
We made a huge amount of progress this past weekend on the Dobro, there are even strings on it now! For the time being we just have the resonator cone (old dryer drum) sitting in place as we are not sure of the final design. The Trio of Roots Rust Revival will be heading up to the Hoxeyville Music Festival this coming weekend, so come on up and check us out!
I started to finish up the head on the Dobro this week and with any of this stuff some things work out better than expected and some things just outright fail. The first piece of stainless I tried to attach to the leaf springs falls into the latter category, after spending way to much time trying to fix it I ended up cutting it off and starting over. So I got the new one made an welded on, next the sides tomorrow.
Last weekend we were able to get all the instruments up to Feral Fest 2016 and on top of that we won the sculpture contest! This is an amazing festival with a great atmosphere and even better people. We finally were able to get the pickups hooked up on the BasTrak and it did not disappoint, check out the video with REDD banging out some tunes!
