We had a blast and met a lot of great people last weekend, here are some memories we wanted to share. Below you can see Billy Strings, some of the members of Greensky Bluegrass and the Deep Fried Pickle Project jug band all checking out our instruments.
Last weekend we were able to get all the instruments up to Feral Fest 2016 and on top of that we won the sculpture contest! This is an amazing festival with a great atmosphere and even better people. We finally were able to get the pickups hooked up on the BasTrak and it did not disappoint, check out the video with REDD banging out some tunes!
We got a good amount of work done last week end on the Dobro. This is where things really get exciting, the basic form has taken shape and we get to ride the wave of creativity. On the bottom center picture you will notice a trash can lid, this is no mistake. The one thing that sets a dobro apart from a standard guitar is the resonator, this is what gives it that unique sound. We have been playing around with many different options from old galvanized wash tubs to trash can lids. You may also notice that the head is a little different than you might expect from a normal six string instrument, this is what we are all about.
Getting things started took some time, but things are coming together now. We got the final form nailed down and the sides rolled into shape. Just tonight I was able to get some of the bottom support welded to the sides. Hopefully by this weekend we should be starting to get the neck fabricated and joined to the body.
We are proud to announce that we are officially entered into ArtPrize 2016,
Founders Brewing Company is hosting us for the duration of the event. The Banjo and BasTrak will be displayed along with the Dobro which is currently in the planning stages. The trio will be known as Roots Rust Revival.
